My Compositions
Draggor's original music. I've been composing my own original music for over 4 years now. It all started Christmas of 1997 when, after begging and pleading my parents for ages, they finally got
a MIDI sequencing program for me. To date, I still use that program for my compositions. By today's standards
it's laughable that I still use Cubasis 1.13, originally designed for use under Windows 3.1. However, thanks to
my Sound Blaster Live soundcard, I can use
Soundfonts Aside from the mandatory music classes from Elementary school, I've had no musical training. I do seem to have a really good ear for music, which is how I've gotten as far as I have. My childhood love of video game music also helped me quite a bit, and helped me develop my composing style and genre of choice. In the beginning I was a slow starter (I've inspired a few people to start composing and I'm amazed at how well they can do with their first compositions). However I composed so many songs that nowadays I look back on it in amazement and jealousy for having so many ideas. The truth is, my inspiration's gotten a bit dry. Many things have happened to put me off composing, such as the stress of meaningless music competitions and even a case of online harrassment! Compared to my pumping out of songs at the beginning, I've slowed down to a crawl. Perhaps this is normal as a lot more work goes into making better sounding music, but I can't help but feel that I've lost my touch. I still stick to my romantic ideal about the meaning of music. It's an artform that speaks to the soul like no other can. It can capture the mood and mindset of the composer and recreate a similar feeling in a receptive listener, something that can't be expressed through words or images alone. At the same time it triggers different memories for each person, making it a unique experience for the individual. This is why truly great music is born of feeling, a need to express one's self, not greed for money, fame, or to outdo others. If my music touches just one person then I've succeeded.
