My Philosophies
My philosophies about life and existence. During the Summer of 2002 I read a book entitled "Sophie's World" which really opened my eyes about the world we live in, and why we're here. Not that it revealed any of those secrets explicitly, however it got me thinking along those lines, in terms of what past philosophers have theorized. It also lead to a personal discovery. I take no concept for granted and maintain an open mind about things, trying to find a logical reason behind the way they are. I try not to let myself get lost in the petty aspects of life, and frequently pause to reflect how it fits into the big picture. "Sopie's World" revealed to me that this is the way a Philosopher thinks, and so I am a philosopher. I'm a philosopher. I bet it sounds a little strange to you that I can just declare something like that. Don't I at least need to take some classes before I can qualify as a philosopher? If you believe that, then answer me this - do YOU need to take some classes before you can qualify as being alive? Philosophy is a secret that's right under everyone's noses, and most people don't even realize it. The great thing about it is that it's something absolutely ANYONE can participate in, all it requires is the sense of reason which is granted to every sane human being. What stops people from being philosophers is that they are too caught up in their own lives to realize that there is anything more. Another sad thing is that other people who do think about these things don't take the time to develop their theories. Or perhaps they forget to write them down and they soon forget. At any rate, I strongly recommend to anyone who lives and breathes to read the book "Sophie's World" by Jostein Gaarder. I guarantee you'll never read anything quite like it again. And it just might open your eyes too. That said, here are some of my philosophical theories that I've developed:
